Fresh off 'Choosin' Texas' record-breaking 23-week run atop the Billboard Hot 100, Ella Langley celebrated by confronting a very different kind of challenge: an Argentine boa.
Ella Langley has spent the past several months staring down the upper reaches of the Billboard Hot 100. This week, she decided to stare down a snake instead.
In a TikTok video posted Wednesday, the country singer-songwriter documented a close encounter with several exotic animals. Langley began the experience with a parrot perched on her shoulder and a baby kangaroo seated beside her on a couch, before being presented with an Argentine boa.
"This is facing my fears a little bit," Langley said in the clip, visibly nervous at first. She eventually warmed to the reptile, letting the boa wrap around her shoulders and rest against her body. The video closed with her hugging a lemur. "I love today," she said.
The comment section filled with reactions from fans — "So fun!" one user wrote, while another admitted, "omg the snakes I would have ran." One fan summed up the general mood: "You're amazing. Please don't ever change."
A Milestone That Barely Feels Real
The animal encounter arrived just days after \"Choosin' Texas\" logged its 23rd week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing Mariah Carey's \"All I Want for Christmas Is You\" to become the longest-running No. 1 single in the chart's history.
On Tuesday night, Langley addressed the milestone on Instagram, and her disbelief was plain.
"I'm genuinely trying to find the words to explain what's going on in my brain today," she said in a video. "I'm running out of hyperboles to describe how I feel." She thanked fans for listening to and loving the song, noting that it has changed her life as well as the lives of its writers and her family.
"Today doesn't feel like a real thing," she added. "It feels fake and somebody's going to come in and be like, 'Haha, we're kidding the whole time.'"
She closed by promising to celebrate that night. "'Choosin' T … that's the one, huh?"
The song's ascent was gradual rather than overnight. It first entered the Hot 100 in November 2025, became Langley's first top 10 hit in January, and reached No. 1 for the first time in February — before settling in for a run that now stands alone in Billboard history.
From Hope Hull to the Top of the Chart
For those who have followed Langley since her early days, the chart records mark a striking trajectory. Born Elizabeth Camille Langley in Hope Hull, Alabama, she grew up singing in Southern Baptist churches and at informal family jam sessions. Her first instrument came from grief: after her grandfather's death, her father had his guitar restrung for her when she was 14, and that same night she taught herself \"Three Little Birds\" by Bob Marley.
She gave her first public performance at Hooper Academy's student talent show in 2016, then spent the years after high school performing at Alabama bars and festivals. In 2019 she moved to Nashville, where she embedded herself in the songwriting community and played writers' rounds. A publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville followed in 2021, and by early 2022 she was touring as a guest artist with Randy Houser. She made her Grand Ole Opry debut on February 17, 2023.
Her debut album, Hungover, arrived in 2024 and yielded the breakthrough hits \"You Look Like You Love Me\" with Riley Green and \"Weren't for the Wind,\" both of which topped the Country Airplay chart. Her second album, Dandelion, debuted atop the Billboard 200, led by the single that has now rewritten the record books.
Along the way, Langley became the first female artist to simultaneously top America's Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts — a triple crown that underscores just how completely the Nashville-via-Alabama songwriter has crossed over.
What Comes Next
The timing of Langley's animal encounter — playful and offbeat — is telling. With \"Choosin' Texas\" now sitting in the record books alongside the Beatles' 20 No. 1 hits and Carey's holiday staple, the singer seems content to savor the moment rather than chase the next headline.
Still, the milestone carries weight beyond the chart. As Langley herself noted, the song's success is altering trajectories — for its co-writers, for her family, and for a career she described as only now building \"an atmosphere for something I'm gonna be able to do the rest of my life.\"
Whether that means a new album, a tour, or simply more TikTok videos with exotic animals remains to be seen. For now, one thing is clear: Ella Langley is choosing to enjoy it — snakes and all.
