Pink Floyd
Biography
Pink Floyd, formed in London in 1965, pioneered progressive and psychedelic rock through extended compositions, sonic experimentation, and elaborate live performances. Initially led by Syd Barrett, the band achieved early success before David Gilmour joined and Roger Waters became the primary lyricist, conceptualizing landmark albums like *The Dark Side of the Moon* and *The Wall*. Despite internal tensions leading to lineup changes, Pink Floyd continued producing acclaimed work, including *The Division Bell*, and reunited for Live 8. With over 250 million records sold, their philosophical lyrics and immersive soundscapes have cemented their legacy as one of the most influential and best-selling musical acts in history.
