Evanescence
Biography
Evanescence is an American rock band formed in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1994 by Amy Lee and Ben Moody, known for blending gothic, alternative, and symphonic elements into a darkly melodic sound. Their breakthrough came with the 2003 debut album *Fallen*, driven by the global hits "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal," which sold over four million copies in the U.S. and earned the band two Grammy Awards. Subsequent albums including *The Open Door* (2006) and the self-titled *Evanescence* (2011) achieved multi-platinum sales and chart-topping success, while later works like *Synthesis* (2017) incorporated live orchestras and electronic textures. After gaining independence from their label in 2014, the band continued to evolve, releasing *The Bitter Truth* in 2021, cementing their influence on modern rock with Lee's powerful vocals and emotionally charged songwriting.
