Disturbed
Biography
Disturbed is an American heavy metal band formed in Chicago in 1994, known for their distinctive blend of alternative metal, hard rock, and nu-metal elements, characterized by downtuned guitar riffs, aggressive rhythms, and the powerful, operatic vocal delivery of frontman David Draiman. The band achieved mainstream breakthrough with their 2000 debut album *The Sickness*, which features the iconic single Down with the Sickness and has sold over four million copies in the United States alone. Career highlights include four consecutive number-one debuts on the Billboard 200 with albums *Believe*, *Ten Thousand Fists*, *Indestructible*, and *Asylum*, as well as their 2015 comeback album *Immortalized* and its hit cover of The Sound of Silence, which introduced their music to a broader audience. Their artistic influence is evident in the resurgence of heavy rock in the 2000s and their ability to blend melodic hooks with confrontational lyrical themes, inspiring subsequent generations of metal and hard rock acts through uncompromising intensity and theatrical stage presence.
